The fund supports kaupapa that bring people together, strengthen culture, support wellbeing, build capability, and respond to practical community needs. It is not individual sponsorship funding.
Small whānau or group-led initiatives may request $500 to $1,500. Larger community, hapū or marae-led kaupapa may request up to $5,000. Funding may be approved in full or in part.
Applicants must show a clear connection to Maikuku rāua ko Huatakaroa, or show how the kaupapa will benefit descendants of Maikuku rāua ko Huatakaroa.
Successful applicants must keep basic financial records and submit a short report within 6 months of receiving funds.
